小樽での公演は、もともとはほぼ丸一日小樽美術館を貸し切って、長い時間をかけて様々な舞踏パフォーマンスやパブリックトーク、レクチャーなどを実施する予定でした。

 

コロナウイルスの影響で中止を検討しましたが、一度に入れる観客は定員20名まで、コロナウイルス対策を行い、一つの部屋で密集して上演しなければ開催できることになりました。

 

そこで私たちは考えて、プランを大幅に変更することにしました。

それならばいっそのこと、美術館を歩いて回るツアー形式のようにしようと。

 

パフォーマンス時間を各ツアーともに約40分に設定して、終わる度にお客さんを入れ替えるようにしました。

 

このことが話題性を生み、逆に面白そうだとチケットは全3回ともに数日で売り切れました。

私たちにとっても、パフォーマンスのテーマやコンセプトが明確になり、以前よりもかえって良い内容になったと思います。

The performance in Otaru was originally scheduled to take place in the Otaru Museum of Art for almost the entire day, with various butoh performances, public talks and lectures over a long period of time.

 

We considered canceling it due to the coronavirus, but we were able to hold the performance as long as the audience was limited to 20 people at a time and the performances were not crowded into one room.

 

So we thought about it and decided to make a major change in our plans.

We decided to make it like a walking tour of the museum.

 

We set the performance time for each tour at about 40 minutes, and then changed the audience after each one.

 

This created a buzz and, conversely, sounded interesting, and tickets for all three tours sold out within a few days.

It made the theme and concept of the performance clearer for us, and I think the content was better than before.
